Files on refurbed Shuffle
Hi
I just bought a refurbed iPod Shuffle 1 meg today. I have never had anything to do with them before so I'm kind of a noobie. Anyhow I downloaded iTunes and loaded some songs onto the Shuffle and everything seemed to be working fine but I could only put on 45 songs and that is all that it would let me put on. I got snooping around in MY COMPUTER and found the the iPod was showing up as a drive so I EXPLORED it and found a bunch of songs on there that I didn't put on it... some is really good!!!  It will play on my computer but doesn't play when listening to the Shuffle.
What's with that?? Can I recover this music?? How do I delete it from the iPod?? Can I delete these file through MY COMPTER and just delete as I would any other file??
Thanks for any help you can supply... Bummie

the ipod can be set as external storage drive. it will show up in my computer as external drive and u would be able to keep other type of files there including music files. but the music file stored can't be played.
the only way to play the music file is to sync with itunes.
yes you can del the files through my computer. and if you don't wanna set some spaces to make ipod as external drive, you can do so in your ipod settings in itunes.
hope that helps

Did those songs have file names that made any sense? If they did they were definitely just added to the iPod as an external drive, not through iTunes.
If you want to keep any of the songs copy them onto your HDD and import them into iTunes. Then you can delete the files from the iPod through Explorer. When you sync your iPod the songs will then be put back in a playable form.

OK... thanks. That is what I thought but wasn't sure. Yes the songs are playable so the previous owner stored them as files.
