ipod nano 3G dock connector the same as 5G ipod?

I've got a 5G ipod at the moment and am looking to get a new nano so I can use the Nike+ equipment. I currently have an ipod cradle in my car that is set up to work through the stereo which my 5G ipod just slips into, but I need to know if the nano will fit into the cradle or whether the dock connector at the bottom of the ipod is a different size, as I believe is the case with the 2G nano's.

Any help would be appreciated.

The wall charger from my 4g 20gb ipod fits and charges my new nano.

The dock connector on the 3G(?), 4G, 5G, Classic iPods, and 1G/2G/3G Nanos (and iPhone, and Touch) are the same.

A; Not necessarily. They may or may not work depending on how the manufacturer has implemented their functionality.

I have been plugging my new Nano into my Video dock, with no problems.
I have also found something funny locally: The local 1 shop has a big stack of iPod Mini docks on the shelf...
I am wondering if my new Nano will fit into a Mini dock(It's only 1, so i'll pick one up to see).

Nope, I tried my mini dock, it's just a little too small width-wise. Maybe a dremel?

I do have a dremel, but i expect that would defeat the purpose.
In any case i already have a dock, but i was going to pick one up for my Brother to use with the new Nano i bought him last week.
