Serious Advice Needed

Well first off thanks to those in advance who check this out and leave some feedback. So here's my delima, I want to purchase an iPhone (the price drop gave me more of an encentive to purchase) but I've read on various blogs and tech. sites that a new/2nd Gen. iPhone is coming soon (or at least predictions along those lines). Sometime maybe by Christmas or early 2008. God knows I'm not the most patient, but I also dont want to regret buying it now, when I see the new ad for the 2nd Gen. iPhone on the tv or the net... So here in lies the question...to buy now or not to buy now?

There's a practically 0% chance of a new iPhone coming this Christmas. The whole point of the price drop was to increase unit sales for this Christmas. It's still a new phone. I wouldn't bet on any significant hardware updates for at least a year.Remember, new features are just starting to be added through software updates. There's still plenty of room for them to grow in that dept, so there's no reason for a hardware update anytime in the near future.

I agree with the poster above. Everyone was speculating that a new iPhone would come out soon based on the upcoming announcement for iPhone in Great Britain and Europe. Well that announcement has come and gone, and they are getting the same exact iPhone we have now. I highly doubt we'll see a second-gen iPhone before 2009. I think one may be announced next year, but who knows. They've still got a long way to go in getting this one ironed out. The most I can see happening is a 16gb model being offered, and that won't happen this year either.

I can see maybe a bigger storage model at $499 or so. But as for 2nd gen then no, maybe next year sometime. I got one after the price drop because i had a blackjack running on gophone and i was going to get a touch so i sold my blackjack only had to pay $180 for the iphone and have a built in ipod now, and im finally on a real plan (17 yo now prepaid wasnt fun) and I use the data plan lots people complain about it being slow but its better than nothing.
