im really dumb...bear with me.
i'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes.
i just got my iphone and am anxious to get some movies on it. i downloaded handbrake and ripped from a dvd (used the iphone setting, but scaled the size to 320xwhatever-the-other-number-turned-out-to-be). the file is just sitting on my desktop and won't drag or import into itunes. i can play it with quicktime but i can't get it into itunes.
so how do i get it onto the phone?
i had my computer updated on saturday so i have the newest versions of everything.

Check your settings. iTunes will only import compatible files. You may have ripped it with the wrong options checked. That's about as close as I can get you since I use different software to rip video to the iPod. I'm sure that someone with more Handbrake experience can get you closer to a solution.

Try and re-rip the DVD using handbrakes default settings. I mean just the way the settings are after you installed it. Don't use any of Handbrakes presets. Leave them alone. With the default settings, I have all but one of my DVDs imported into iTunes. The one movie that wouldn't rip using Handbrake is a double sided and for some reason Handbrake can only see one side of it.
Anyways try what I suggest.

thanks.
won't that make the file size huge though? as i did it, it took 8 hours to rip and it was around 800mb.

no, they will be smaller with the default settings. With a dual core PC it willtaks maybe 40 minutes or so.

I have a Mac also. When I installed Handbrake, I never touched any of the settings. I just simply inserted a DVD and clicked start. With my MacBook Pro, it took about 40 minutes this way to rip a 2 hour DVD. I noticed that if I tried to use the iPhone preset, it said it would take about 3 hours so I never used that.
