Recommendation?
Hey, I have a 1994 BMW 740iL. I've been looking into options for hooking my 80gb iPod through the stereo, as have had enough fumbling with the FM tuner, and would like a permanent solution. Alright, I've found a combo I'm sure I'll get. Either the Alpine CDA-9883 with the full stream iPod cable, or the Alpine CDA-9856 with the full stream iPod cable.

I have the CDA-9885 with the 80GB Classic and am very happy, no complaints at all so far.
I looked at the options you mention but decided to spend a little more and the get 9885 b/c it has two text lines and thus the availability to display both the song name and artist or song name and album, etc. Other than that they are mostly the same, as far as I know.
The sound is great and the search and navigating capabilities are superb. The only negative I've found is that when you are in shuffle mode (called "mix") you can not use the search functions, I think this was mentioned in other thread.

Hey, thanks for the response. I was wondering, what cable did you use to hook the iPod to the 9885? The 420i, or the 422i?
