3G Nano w/ Alpine iDA-X001: Which Cable?
I'm considering purchasing a Nano 3G and an Alpine iDA-X001. I'm confused as to which cable works best with the Nano 3G and X001. It seems that the X001 comes with a cable and then you can purchase a separate cable (KCE-422i). So which cable should I use for better performance / features when connecting the Nano 3G to the X001?
Oh, I'm purchasing from Crutchfield since I have gift certificate to use for their site.

I downloaded the X001 manual from Alpine's site and it looks like you can have the iPod cable AND a separate USB cable (for connecting other MP3 players / flash drives). Can this really be done (connecting both the iPod cable and a separate USB cable)?

Yes, you can have an iPod full speed connection as well as a USB connection - at the same time. So you could connect two iPods, an iPod and a USB source, or just use USB or iPod full speed. The reproduction is far better on the USB connection since the D/A conversion is performed on the head unit - not the iPod. Consequently all USB sources should sound the same, because they are digital - except that if you use the iPod on USB you can use iTunes lossless too - which should be the same as CD quality.

Thanks. So full speed cable is the better one. Which one is the full speed cable? The one that comes with the X001 or the one you buy separately for ~$30? Does the full speed cable give you FULL control of the iPod and let you see album art, etc. on the X001's screen?
I'll be using the X001 with the new Nano.

Ok. Crutchfield lists three cables for the X001 that you can buy for the iPod. Which one is the "best" (will allow the fastest data transfer to and from the iPod, show album art, etc. and give full control of the iPod) that will also let me connect a separate USB connection to use with USB flash drives, etc.:

This one also says:
Miniplug: The iC-ALPF includes a 3.5mm miniplug audio cable for connecting other brands of portable MP3 players, or other portable audio device.
