I recently purchased a third generation Nano and have been experiencing similar problems. I contacted Peripheral and they advised that they had to update their hardware to support the new hardware models. In my case, they advised that I would need to replace my module/adapter with a revision 1.5.1.
If your adapter is within its one year warranty, they will replace it; otherwise, it is at your expense.

I hear that before, other Ipod interface manufactures do the update or replace the interface for free just pay the shipping cost like
precision interface electronics
that is one of the reasons why i don't like peripheral and i have a few reasons
so far PIE and DICE ELECTRONICS interfaces work with the new ipods

Partyd,
Do you have an opinion on which is better, PIE or Dice? (I'd be installing it in a 2004 GMC Envoy if it makes a difference)
Thanks

i don't know what accessories can be compatible with what player , but i found this big one with its full name
Space Station Stereo Speakers for iPod MP3 MP4 PC CD DVD Mobile (SP-368) White & Gray mesh (http://www.uxcell.com/space-station-stereo-speakers-for-ipod-mp3-mp4-dvd-mobile-sp368-white-gray-mesh-p-3770.html),
you can take a look if interested

2004 GMC Envoy most likely you have xm the best interface and easy to install will be the
usa spec pa11-gm it plugs in to the xm location and shows all the ipod text on the gmc radio
If you don't find that interface the next will be the pie GM12-POD/S it is almost the same full controls from radio and ipod, this unit comes with a better warranty but it cost a little more
I try both of them the pie is a little faster good if you have a lot of songs in your ipod
both can be plug at the xm tuner location right side of glove box
the dice interface is also good but you need to remove the radio

Partyd,
I emailed USA*Spec to verify that their interface was compatible with the new (3rd gen) Nano and iPod Touch and this was the response I got:
"Yes we do work on the mew Gen 3 iPods"
Since there's obviously a difference between a 3rd generation Nano and a 3rd generation iPod, I was curious if you had first had knowledge/experience of the USA*Spec's device compatibility.
Thanks for all your assistance.

WOW they LIE sorry to tell you but they are not compatible with the iPod Touch or new nano
this is how it works and i believe it is a waste of money
the usa specs controls all the Ipod and the Iphone, with the classic iPod Touch and nano
there are no radio controls you have to set the interface to direct mode that will let you control all the functions from the Ipod the radio can not do anything
so it works like a regular auxiliary audio interface that you can find anywhere under $70.00

Getting confused - thought you recommended USA*Spec a couple posts above ?
I want control a new Nano or Touch with my 2004 GMC Envoy factory radio. Will the PIE or Dice do this?
# 10 Re: peripheral Ipod Car kit & New Ipod Touch
I just set up my iPhone car adapter today - I used a Grom Audio adapter I got on eBay in my 2001 Acura MDX. I didn't want to spend the extra cash on the USA*Spec or PIE adapters so this one was just $70, but I haven't found anything wrong with it yet. I'm able to use steering wheel controls, it charges the iPhone and works really slick. I don't know if they offer cables for all vehicles but if they do I imagine it will work with the iPod Touch.

yes i did but i forogt for a moment about the ipod you are going to be using
dice and usa specs are good unit the problem is that the usa specs will only work on direct more sorry

IPHONE works like the old generation ipod this is for the new nano and itouch
and that grom adaptor is a copy of the peripheral

I AM sorry i got confuse by vehicles and i was out for a couple of days .well i was told that the usa specs was having a lot of problems, and to solve them they turn off the playlist and hybrid mode off and works like a auxiliary interface
today we install one on a 2004 chevy silverado truck with a new nano
I turn off the hybrid modem, playlist and direct mode on it works just fine no problems
i can see the ipod text on the gm radio display i also try the gm12-pod and it also works just fine no problems
lets you search by artis,album,playlist,song
