Playing my iPod through my Car Stero via USB
I have a new system in my car which has a USB connector on it, when I plug my ipod in to the port the ipod WILL play but the "charging screen" comes up and I can not control the ipod except to press next on the stero. This works for about 5 songs but then it just stops like it got to the end of a playlist. It's the same 5 songs everytime and I checked ALL of my playlists and none of those 5 on it.
So how can I get my ipod to get off the charging screen so I can control what I listen to?
I realize this is highly discussed and I searched for it but so far everyone just says "your usb port probably doesn't support ipods. But MINE does, because I can get it to play, just no control =/

Please explain to me why it stops after 5 songs then? Why would only 5 songs work and NO others work?
I've checked everything I can think of and that is why I am posting here (such as format, all my songs are iTunes AAC, etc)
Anyway I refuse to believe there isn't a way to get this thing working without an explanation.

I have no explanation.
All I know is, the iPod been out 5 years now, USB-capable heads is been around at least 3 years. This board is been online since 2002(?). If this was possible someone already posted an answer.
If u care to use the SEARCH button, perhaps the lotsa posting here about USB give u not answer but some kind of closure.
p.s. A coupla of posts down, we talk about the Alpine X001 unit. Recommended reading.

Please don't shoot the messenger, but your head unit is not going to play your iPod library like you want it to. The iPod does not store files in any logical order. If you plug your iPod into a computer and read it like a hard drive, you will see that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of folders with names made up of jumbled letters and numbers. Now if you look at the contents of those folders, there are audio tracks that are also named with random letters and numbers. The way the iPod works is, all of your music is named and stored randomly and there is one file that tells your iPod where to find everything. Apple did this so you could not easily move your music from your iPod onto other peoples' computers. Now your head unit is probably playing the first folder it sees with audio files, and they are probably in random order (different artists/albums). There is really no way to get around this. The only head unit I know of that can read an iPod library correctly from USB is the Alpine iDA-X001, and that was co-developed with Apple, so it knows how to read the library file and find the music you are requesting.
I hope that makes sense, if you need further clarification on anything, post a reply and I will try to help.
