Hacking firmware of iPod Classic?

Many people have been asking whether Apple would release a firmware update with Coverflow for iPod 5G/ 5.5G. I think this is hopeless. I would rather hope that some guys can hack the firmware of iPod Classic and edit it, so that 5G iPod users can update their iPods with 6G menu. Is that possible?

It seems likely that encryption has been used. See here for details about some of those trying to hack it...

It's encrypted. The Touch, Nano 3G, and Classic all are. If the 2G Nano is any indication, it will be a loooong time, if ever, until the Classic is hacked at all
