iPod Touch 2nd Gen
And at the 2008 MacWorld Event Today, Job's officially reveals his newest rendition of the iPod Touch. His very works:
"Apple shareholders, stockholders, and consumers. I hereby present to you, the 2nd Gen of the iPod touch. We listened to our customers and I am proud to announce, that the 2nd Gen of the iPod touch, now features 32GB of flash memory, that is twice the amount of the 1st Gen. The 8GB model will be phased out. In addition, a few exceptional features have been added:
- The Ability to Add Calendar Events With the iPod Touch
- The Notes Application
- Internal Speaker
- Adobe Flash
and get this, the battery life has also improved dramatically, with now up to 7 hours of Video, and up to a full 24 hours of video."
Sounds like it'd be pretty easy to make a decent upgrade to the iPod Touch 2nd Gen.

I doubt a totally new Touch will be out next year. If one does come out, it will most likely be 1.5.
It will improve battery function, improve sound quality, etc etc. It might even add HDD space.
The form will be the same.

To add HDD space is to completely change the rear shell of the Touch. Won't happen on a 1.5g.
They have far too much to improve on the Touch (and iPhone) and I'm pretty sure they are using these as base test models.

I could be wrong, but I think adobe flash capability, notes, and the ability to add or remove calendar events could be achieved in a software update
