Best encoding bit rate HELP

Um, I'm gonna purchase some shure se530's and I was told the iTunes encoding wasn't gonna cut it. How do I make the encoding on my purchases top notch, so they sound good on the shures? No idea what the encoding does, I would appreciate help on what do I need for it to sound the best on my iPhone with the shure se530's. (spending 500 dollars they better sound their best) pLeAsE post...

First of all, take what anyone tells you about iTunes encoding 'not cutting it' with a grain of salt.

That is something that you will have to decide for yourself.

If you're ripping your own CDs, try different bit rates (iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Importing) and see what sounds the best to you.

I personally can't tell a difference between 128 kps (the default) and the higher bit rates. But that's just me and my 40-year-old ears. (And too much of my youth spent playing my Walkman too loudly.)

But some people swear by 192 or 256 kps. And some audiophiles will settle for nothing less than lossless.

So you be the judge of what sounds best to you.

If you're talking about songs you're downloading, you're pretty much stuck with either 128 kps or iTunes Plus at 256 kps if you're downloading from the iTunes store. Either way, I can't tell a difference. But, again, that's just me.

The files downloaded from iTunes are decent enough for most people but those who have "high quality ears", they would think that it isn't good enough to satisfy them. I prefer to rip from my CDs as I will have the freedom to control the bitrate and so on.
