Shure vs Ultimate Ears
I want to buy some high end earphones. I'm a musician and I plan to use these as personal monitors aswell. I'm deciding over the Shure SE530 and the Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 pro, what do you guys think?

personally, i can only speak for my UE super.fi 5EB's, which are the most dreadful headphones/ IEM's i've ever had the miss pleasure of owning. yes the clarity is there, yes the bass does come after a long burn in period, but the midrange DOES NOT WORK. it's so out of balance.
the main vocals are either singing from two blocks away with the backing vocals screaming down your ear, or they sound like someone has switch the equalizer mode to stadium. What ever they've done, the Super.fi 5EB's don't work. sorry for being off topic:rolleyes:

You have just put me off buying a pair! Currently using e2c's and thinking about an upgrade.

stupidly enough, the removable cable, that was the main reason for buying them, but the sound in no way makes up for the replaceable wire option. having said that, i still think the major reason for the sound, is the wtin driver set up, and i'm itching to try the metro.fi 2, to find out if i'm right.

I've used UE5 Pro for a year. Sound is very good. Previously used Etymotic 6i and Sennheiser PCX-250. My wife has a pair of Bose QC2 (but that's her choice). In ear with UE and Ety has as much noise reduction as the overear and active noise reduction; however, the sound from the UE5 Pro is better than Sennheiser and Bose is not even a contender on sound.
BUT the UE5 are not comfortable even after swapping the ear pieces L-->R and vice versa on recommendation from UE. I don't have the biggest ear canals, but these puppies just hurt after an hour. By the time I get off the plane SFO-JFK I'm happy to pull 'em out of my head.
Been considering the new Shure E530, but the fit is the thing. Will probably spring for them from headphone.com because I can return them if the fit doesn't.

i just got some se530s n i have to say they are the best earphones i have ever owned (have had e2cs e3cs ety i6 ue5) the 530s are so snug and comfortable you forget they are even ther at some points and the included foam tips are the best foam tips i have ever used imo. i just went from a 3 hour trip bwi->iah and never felt unconfortable. and the isolation is impeccable
