I hate my Sennheiser cx-300s and recommend against them
I've had a pair of cs-300s for a few months now. They were purchased from Dell and I have no doubt, they are genuine.
In some ways, I've enjoyed them. The rubber gaskets are comfortable and the sound quality is excellent.
Over the time I've had them, however, I've come to discover I hate using my iPods. The thought of taking it anywhere has become unappealing.
It is downright upsetting how the left ear module pops out every couple of minutes. I have to be careful to not turn my head or the wire grab in my collar, grab, and pop goes the bud.
If I ever meet the guy who invented the unequal length ear-bud wire, I'm going to punch him in the mouth.
I've gotten much pleasure from my px-100 and mx-500 gear. The cx-300 seemed a natural choice.
As terrific as the sound quality is, I'm going to see if the Shure e3c is any better.

Er.... tha's what the "lapel clip" is for, to anchor the wire on your lapel or on your collar so it doesn't tuck. But I agree, the J-type is less comfortable than the Y-type, although some ppl swear by 'em.

Lapel clip? My cx-300s did not come with one. I wish it did.
I love the sound of my cx-300s. If I could live with them, I'd be a very happy owner. As they are, however, I can't tolerate them.
Does anyone have an idea where I might find a clip?

I agree with you Sagboy, I love my HD555's, but I just cant tote them around everwhere in my pocket. For some reason I'm getting the same bad performance with my recently bought Shure SE110's, and I keep getting an awful distortion. The volume is only 3/4's the way up and the EQ is off (its worse when its on). I'm thinking about turning them in and buying the CX300's. The J-type doesnt bother me (but it can get really annoying)

You can get a free lapel clip with any $2 phone headset on Ebay...just snag the clip and ditch the crappy headset. You'll probably also find one included with a cheap lapel mic from Radio Shack.
Alternately, you could check out Creative EP-630s. They're very similar (some would say identical) to the sound quality of the CX300, and cheaper, but with a Y cable instead of a J one. Otherwise they look at fit the same.
The person who received CX300s with a lapel clip either actually owns CX400s, or got fakes. Sennheiser has never included a lapel clip with CX300s

shouldn't be that much of a problem if the right sized tips are used? like, you may need to wet them first to make them seat properly & when they are you should be able to feel the difference in air pressure? i've never had this problem with this cable type either (hang the R/H cable around your neck), only when cycling.
dang i would not compare these to 555's!
tombrown, maybe you're just a headphone person!? i mean, earphones get fiddly & a decent set of cans can just stay there on yer head...? or maybe you don't like the incredible isolation of a canalphone, which may also explain your dissatisfaction, perhaps you like a more open sound? there is the yuin or the v-moda earphones for this...
