Looking for some new earphones for my iPhone...

If I may? I'm looking for some recommendations for a new pair of inner ear's. I normally use a pair of Sennheiser PX200's. Lately though, I've been thinking that I might give the inner ears a try again. I've always stayed away from them because I have very sensitive ears. Every pair I've tried on has never quite fit right. Price isn't an issue I just want them to feel comfortable.

I'm running back through the search engine as I type this to get a look at the past suggestions. I'm curious about today: people's taste's change, new deals are found and sometimes you just want something new.

What kind inner ears are you using with your iPhone?

Sometimes in ears are uncomfortable because of the size. Do you have small ears? If so, then stay away from the big Shure brands like E2Cs. The E4Cs are more comfortable and I've heard great things about the E500s.

Customs are actually also pretty good also. Albeit very expensive, one cannot go wrong with earpieces custom made for your ear.

Westone UM1 and UM2s are also very nice and comfortable...the difference being the price respectively. The Ety's are the cleaner sounding earphones and aren't for the bassheads.

I received the just-released v-moda Vibe Duos today. So far so good. I haven't burned them in yet, but they're very comfortable (smaller than I thought based on the photos), solidly built, and solid bass without being boomy. Should sound even better after a day of burn-in.

Bonus: the on-cable mic for iPhone talking, and the control button on the cable as well for answering calls and skipping songs.

So glad I don't have to go through my Shure gymnastics any more. Just pop the v-modas in the ear and enjoy.

They offer a 30-day trial guarantee, so you might want to check them out.

Jays q-Jays. Dual armatures for $179. Don't require burn-in and are very VERY small!

Sound is excellent and is balanced across high/mid/lows.

You will need an adapater for these to fit with the iPhone, but it's well worth it.

Some comparison shots for size (linked from Head-Fi, courtesy of kramer5150 and The_Duke_Of_Eli):

Note, the first picture is missing the silicone tip. Jays ship with 7 different sizes. See my initial impressions here:

Same boat as everyone else, unsatisfied with stock iPhone buds, though I actually accidentally broke mine last week.

I got the updated Vibe Duos, with the control. They're alright. They look real nice, they feel nice, but comparing them back to back with iPhone stock buds... I'd have to say they're maybe 20% better at 350% of the price.

At the same time, they come with a 30 day money back guarantee, try them out for yourself, if you're not happy, send them back.

Best,
-y.

yea, and ilounge gave the vibe duos the same rating as the stock ibuds. I would not pay $100 + for ANY ear buds that were not at least 500 times times better than stock not only in sound quality, but microphone quality, fit quality and everything else. I would have to be 100% satisfied in other words. I just bought a $10.95 pair of iphone compatible buds from ebay. I'm hoping these sound a little better than stock, since I haven't cost me hundreds of dollars I will be happy with them.

500 times better, eh? Good luck with that.

oh lagunaSol that's right I forgot, the stock ear buds are just so fantastic in sound quality, fit, and comfort right? Butt out unless you are going to contribute to the thread jack. My Shure e2's kick the crap out of the stock apple ear buds and they cost me $60 on ebay. I dont think i'm alone when I say that if you are to spend $100 they should definitely be leaps and bounds better than the factory ear buds, not "kinda better"

No, actually I think the stock ear buds suck. I have Shure E3c's as well as the Vibe Duos.

I was simply responding to your "500x better" requirement for spending $100, which, IMO, is a ridiculous position to take, don't you think?

BTW, the Vibe Duos are better than my Shures in build quality, and of course my Shures don't have a mic, so there's no comparison there. The Shures do sound better to me though with the foam tips (I can't get a decent fit with any of the other Shure tips for some reason). The Vibe Duos look, fit, and feel great, though they are definitely bass-heavy and have no real sparkle. No matter - the Shures don't fit the jack on my iPhone nor do they have a mic, so I guess I'll stick with the Vibe Duos for now.

I'm sure your $10.95 eBay specials will sound fantastic.

Butt out unless you are going to contribute to the thread jack.

Indeed.
