Shure SE110
I used my iPhone rebate to order a set of Shure SE110s. They came in today and I'm listening to them on my iPhone and all I can say is WOW. These things sound absolutely amazing, the tones are unreal. I never thought a set of headphones could sound like this. I was previously using some Panasonic canal phones. I don't remember the model number but I know they were around $40. There's no comparison at all between the two. I've been playing with changing between the rubber and foam tips and there's a noticeable difference in the sound. The foam tips help out the low frequencies quite a bit due to them expending and sealing up the ear canal and holding the tones in. The tones blend very well across the spectrum and nothing really stands out. It really just sounds how music is supposed to.

If you like the SE110s, you should try the SE210s or SE310s. They provide much more clarity in the sound and also isolate more.
Anything purchased are an upgrade from the original iPod earbuds. Welcome to the world of canal phones! You will now have a never ending search for the pair of perfect IEMs. :D

ajmiarka, I just bought a pair of SE110's and I like the isolation. How is it that the SE210 and SE310 have more isolation? Don't they use the same foams?

At least with the SE310s, I was able to insert them farther into my canal. They have a narrower shape and allowed for more isolation.

Thanks, ajmiarka, I have a few days to return the SE110's to the apple store if I want and thought if there was a significant difference I would try out the SE210's.
Have you listened to both the SE110 and SE210? If so, how big a difference is there in the sound quality and how would you describe the differences?

Some people actually prefer that *some* ambient noise seeps through so they are not completely deaf.
Am surprise Shure's site doesn't give u numbers as far as how much isolation.
My Etymotic er6i is 29 db and when fitted snug, I can't hear what someone is saying in normal conversation at few feet.
According to this site's review, the 210 is at the *sweet* spot of the 3 models.

Yes, I have listened to both, but not during the same time frame. From what I remember, the SE210s provided more clarity and bass than the SE110s. The SE210s also provided more separation amongst instruments and vocals. Both offered the "in your head" sound.
When you move up to the SE310s, the bass isn't as pronounced, but it's still there. The SE310s provide more "space" between the music and your head and provide even more clarity and separation of sound than the SE210s. The music sounds farther from your head and not in your head. Does that make sense? I was able to get a good sound from the SE310s once I turned to the Rock EQ.
I have the q-Jays coming tomorrow which are dual armatures. Those should be interesting. I started another thread to post my initial impressions.
Hope this helps some. IEMs are different for everyone, so it's hard to convey exactly what sound sounds like. Everyone has ears that are shaped differently.
