5G 30gb iPod Other Space issues!
Hi,
I currently have a 5G 30gb iPod that I have been using for about a year now. I use it for music and podcasts and thats about all. I do have most of my album covers also attached to the songs. Recently I noticed that my iPod was full, which was odd considering I only have about 10gb of music. Upon inspection I found that the space listed as "Other" in the iPod was almost 15gb!! I need to know how to correct or fix this, as this is 1/2 of my iPod that is now useless to me. I understand that firmware (of which I have the latest version) and the database files must take up some space, but 15gb cannot be correct.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Have you used your iPod as a hard drive for files at all, as this could be where your space went (although I'm guessing not).
I would suggest doing soft reset first and foremost by holding down the menu and center buttons at the same time until your iPod turns off and you see an apple logo. If that doesn't fix it, a full restore on your iPod using the restorer in iTunes may just be what the doctor ordered. Just make sure that if you do, your music is backed up.
If I had to guess what is going on, I would venture that perhaps your iPod is retaining data (called "ghost data"), rather than placing it the correct place to be overwritten.

If you have your music on your computer already just do a restore and start over...
if you only have your music on your iPod, use the program called sharepod..run it and copy your music from your iPod to your hard drive then do a restore on your iPod.
