Working round the Euro volume cap on my classic

A quick and easy fix for the euro volume cap is to buy a griffin iFM remote. It uses the dock connector and provides a FM radio to your Ipod. The dock connector has no volume limit and is VERY loud through my Shure e2c's.

Actually I have the opposite problem now, it is TOO loud. The volume control is independent of the ipod so the screen stays unlit when you change volume, and it has a scale of 0-16. I can only get upto about 8 on the scale without hurting my ears when listening to mp3's. The radio is a lot quieter. Even a setting of 0 is fairly loud when using sensitive noise isolating headphones I would guess its a little less than half way on the scale of my euro limited ipod. So to be honest its probably still doing my ears some damage.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a shure volume attenuator to cut the volume a bit. But I have the problem that I use a silicon skin and armband with my player to prevent breaking my dock connector on the remote port. I managed to break a Zen vision M remote by having the zen in my pocket for about two weeks, so I dont wanna go through that again. The snag is I have about 2 metres of wire dangling down my shirt, so an extra cable isn't really an option.

I personally think the ipod is loud enough even with the euro limit. I think my zen was a bit quieter so I got the american firmware for that, but I don't think it is a problem for the ipod. Just thought I'd let people know if they aren't aware and it is a problem for them.
