all my VIDEOS on my IPOD video got re-classed to music, how do i fix this...

and now i cant play the videos on my ipod

Alright, here's my problem and it's driving me nuts. I have a 60Gb ipod video and I've noticed that my movie files (mpeg 4) keep getting reclassified as music. They dissappear from my ipod video menus and although I can see them in itunes on the pc (and watch the videos) they are no longer listed as movies - they only exist in the music tab. Also, I can play the audio portion of them via the ipod and it shows the first frame of the video as the 'artwork'. I've tried the 'Get Info' option and this lists the files as 'MPEG-4 video file' but only the tabs associated with music are present - Summary, Info, Options, Artwork.

Is there a way to force the ipod to reclassify these as movies? I can't drag them from the music tab to the movies tab. Also, I am not storing these files on my pc, they are only on the ipod.

This happened to me too, after I plugged my ipod into someone else's iTunes (bad idea!). I still have never figured out why it happened.

I have no idea why, but they must have changed their video type from movie to music video. I hate that they do this, but Apple puts music videos with music instead of with videos. Anyway, here's how to get them back:

Right click on one of them and choose "get info". On one of the tabs (I think it's called video or movie), you can change the video type. Click it and select movie, then click ok. That should put the video back to the movies section.

There is no way of changing this setting on multiple files at the same time, so you have to do each and every one. You can click next insted of ok to change the next file in the list. (A minor shortcut.) Good luck.

There is no tab for "movies" or "music videos," probably because it is classified, not genre assigned, as music and is treated as such.

If the file is actually a video file, when you right click on it and choose "get info", there will be a tab at the top called "vedeo". It's the third one, between "info" and "Sorting". On that tab, right on top, is a box where you choose "video kind". The selections are "movie", "music video", and "TV show". Select "movie" and the video will go back to the movie side.

If "get info" does not give you a "video" tab, then the file is not a video. Perhaps iTunes took the sound only from your videos and saved them as songs. I have no idea why this would happen or if it's even possible. But even if it did, it wouldn't have over-written the original files.

I'm sorry, but if my first paragraph doesn't help, your problem is beyond my level of knowledge of iTunes. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help. Good luck.

I am having this same problem. Itunes somehow is reading the video files as music files. thus, u get no video tab under get info. they are still video files because if u double click them in itunes, it plays as a video.
