Video Format between iPods
Thanks in advance for your help.
We are an iPod family (40 GB Apple TV, 60 and 80 GB Video, iPhone, and 2G (4GB) and 3G (8GB) Nanos). I have noticed some of the videos I have encoded over time are not compatible (according to iTunes, so they won't transfer) with some of the other video iPods...:o
Is there a video compression format that is "ideal" (i.e. will play on all) for all of the above video-capable Apple items?

Yes there is actually, you can make videos that follow the iTunes Store specs. Make sure you use the mpeg-4 AVC (h.264) video format, a video bitrate of 1500kbps, a audio bitrate of 128kbps, a audio frequency of 48KHz, a resolution of up to 640X480, and make sure you use the baseline low complexity h.264 video format. There are many, many programs that can encode videos like this. I recommend Nero Recode 2. It isn't free and it isn't easy to use at first. Once you get the hang of things though, it can really go far. Recode 2 is fast, has many more options than most other programs out there, and is one of the highest quality programs on the market. You really get a lot for your money.
