Album art problem - OK in Coverflow and Now Playing, but...
Hi all ... longtime lurker, first-time poster. Thanks to everyone for all your great information.
So, on my 160GB classic I've got an odd problem with album art that I haven't seen addressed in the forums. I've got a group of albums whose album art works fine in Coverflow and in the "Now Playing" screen, but it doesn't show up when I select an artist and their albums are listed (i.e., the screen with the really little album art alongside each album title). This problem seems limited to album art I copied from a website and tried to sync on my ipod last night - the same website I'd copied art from previously without running into my current problem. I followed the same copying/syncing procedure last night as I have on previous occasions, but some reason last night's art is causing problems.
Any ideas? Why would album art work fine in Coverflow and Now Playing but not in an artist's album listing? Thanks for any thoughts.

I am having the opposite problem. I have album art that shows up fine in iTunes and in the thumbnails in the list of the artist's albums on the iPod, but it just shows up as a black square (and it's not the Spinal Tap soundtrack) in Now Playing and Cover Flow on the iPod. This is mostly (if not all) art that was downloaded from the iTunes store.
I have a Classic 80GB.
Any ideas? Anyone?

I found a fix for my problem. It goes like this:
1. For the albums that show up as black squares on the iPod, go to those albums in iTunes and clear the artwork.
2. Sync iPod.
3. At this point, CoverFlow on the iPod should show the semi-transparent generic musical note logo instead of the black square for those albums.
4. Add the album artwork back to the albums from which it was removed in step 1 (either using the "Get Album Artwork" command or by manually adding artwork from a file - doesn't matter).
5. Sync iPod again.
6. The album artwork should now show up properly on the iPod.
Hope this helps someone.
Cheers!
