charging the battery

it says a 2 hour charge recharges the battery 80% but full charge takes 4 hours, so when the symbol comes up as charged after 2 hours does that mean its recharged 80% and that you can leave it in for 2 more hours for 100% secondly is it better to charge it for 4 hours as if you are only charging it for 2 hours its not a full charge?

The battery is full whenever the meter says so. A iPod can be fully charged just after 2 hours. It depends on the initial charge condition of the iPod. It will take 4 hours to fully charge an iPod if the battery was completely drained. If it wasn't then it will take less time. The charging time isn't important, the only thing that matters is what the screen says.

Also charging via USB is slower than using the AC power supply. Last time I recharged my iPod from empty using the external charger it was fully charged in two and a half hours.
