Classic battery life?

I've had no serious troubles with my Classic so far, but there is one thing that is kind of irking me: the battery life! I really don't see getting 30 hours of audio out of this thing, not even close. I've played maybe 15-20 minutes of video and about 2 hours of music+podcasts, and it's already lost 1/4 it's charge, according to the meter. Is the meter on the Classic a little iffy, or did I get a dud battery?

One more thing...it's odd that it's draining so quickly, because I tested the video playback and I got it to play over 6 hours of movies before it died. What's up with this?

Thanks!

Try conditioning the battery. Charge it to full, discharge to none, and repeat 2 more times. It worked for my old 5G and most other phones that use Li-ion batteries.

don't be so quick to jump to conclusions that your battery its bad or that it's not going to do what it says. i got the impression that you haven't actually gone through a cycle on the battery yet and drained it completely. use it until the battery is drained completely, and don't expect to be getting 30 hours, you will probably get 25-28, especially, if you're doing video (which eats the battery faster). the battery meter is only an estimate, it's not an exact status of the battery level; it could be more or less than what it says. give it a little while, and if you're consistently only getting 20-25 hours or so (with just audio), then i'd be worried.

I did put it through a full cycle before testing the video playback that I mentioned in my first post, so that's not to blame. I can try a few more cycles if it's still acting up, but I doubt that will be necessary.

I guess I'm just paranoid; my old Mini was the same way. Can't be any worse than 4 hours :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Sounds a lot like my problem with the 5G iPod Video.
When I bought my iPod Video at launch, I got maybe 30-45 minutes of video playback and 7-15 hours of audio playback with the screen brightness low and it being turned off after 2 seconds of inactivity. I was really disappointed with the battery life, but I figured it was natural as I got that out of the box :p
