Anapod 9.0.3 and Classic 160
I am getting to the point of mass frustration due the being able to use the full capabilty of my new classic 160. I simply want to be able to transfer, in both directions, from and to the ipod. I have installed the latest version of anapod 9.0.3, which clearly states on their site is compatible with "all" ipod versions. The problems that i am having are listed below.
Problems:
1. Itunes no longer recognizes the database on my ipod after connecting to anapod and doing anything with the database. I have read some information that makes it sound like the database structures from program to program differ, making it the ipod usable to one software managing program.
2. I hesitantly decided to use anapod exclusively with my ipod, sync'd all of my music over with what seemed to be no problems. 2 hrs later and 8000 songs trasnferred i thought i was in business. All the songs showed up as being written to the ipod using the ipod explorer. Their was all the albums, songs, titles, tags in place. The problem is that after selecting "disconnect ipod" from the menu and letting the ipod enter its normal operating state, There is no music visible. I have tried to re transfer a smaller set of files in the same process and am having the same problem. The Ipod simply does not recognize that there is any music on the ipod after transferring from Anapod.
Questions:
1. Anyone have any ideas on what may or may not be going on here? It seems that Anapod is after all, not compatible with the Ipod OS in terms of the OS being able to recognize the music that is transferred from Anapod.
2. Are there any other solutions for being able to view and download files that are on the Ipod, other than using the "Ipod Disk Use" function that does not display music database info. ??

Apple has added a new CRC or checksum to the iPod library so that only iTunes can talk to it. Until it has been cracked (which I read happened yesterday), Anapod cannot update the iPod library. Showing 0 songs is the symptom of this issue.
Google for locking out 3rd party apps on Classic for more info.

Yes there is a solution -- use iTunes.
I used RedChair's Notmad with my Zen but find that iTunes works great and I don't have to worry about organizing my music in the filesystem any longer. Just have to make sure the ID3 tags are good, just as I had to do with Notmad as well.

In regard to using Itunes. I have no problem using itunes, but everytime i use Anapod the datastructure seems to be changed and Itunes makes me Restore and re-add, which sets me back a couple of hours. It seems crazy that i would have to reload my library from itunes every time a use anapod.
Anyone else have the same problem? Am i doing something wrong? Do you think the update in the check sum has something to do with this?
Thanks!

This solution sucks for me - iTunes is so poor at organizing my collection.
There is a better solution that works for iPod Classic. Use J River media center (http://www.jrmediacenter.com) - it has much better organization capability and also works with the latest iPod Classics.

iTunes has all the power you need. You need to use it better. If you ask questions we can help.
This is not a good statement, because for many people iTunes does NOT have all the power you need. Its smartlists pale in comparsion to jriver and mediamonkey. iTunes does not handle FLAC or many other codecs. iTunes does not allow for any tag customization such as user defined fields.
For many people iTunes is a very poor music manager, however the iPod is a great portable player because of its simple design and strong 3rd party support.

I'm not saying, don't use the 3rd party solutions if you are happier with them. However, you need to be aware that Apple doesn't want you to use them and will clearly try to disable them (did you see Steve Job's "cat and mouse" quote?). You'll have to use iTunes if they ever have a mechanism that can't be cracked.

Outside of not using iTMS which for people going the 3rd party route are ones who would not use iTMS even if 3rd party was not around, what reason do they have to actively prevent one from using a 3rd party music manager? The current hash that is added to the library is most likely something they did for data integrity.
What Jobs was directing towards was mostly iPhone unlocking and maybe ringtone hacks.
