Apple Universal iPod Dock

This might be a dumb question but does the Universal iPod Dock need to be plugged into a power source in order to watch video on my TV? I ask because instead of waiting 3-4 weeks for a new Composite cable I could just buy a dock and watch movies from my iPod on my TV but since I don't have a standalone charger I can't plug it into a power source.

No, it does not require a power source. I bought one last week to be able to output video to my TV. It works just fine without power.
