iPod Classic Invisible Shield. Pictures Inside.
I got my invisible shield in the mail yesterday and I am very pleased with the results. I took some quick photos and just wanted to share just in case anyone was wondering how the invisible shield would look on the anodized aluminum face of the iPod classic. It gave the entire front a glossy look, which I actually prefer.
Ignore the dust, I should have wiped it off when taking the pics. lol.

I said this in a previous post, but it bothered me a little how the click wheel was a different shade of black than the rest of the body. I like how the shield made the wheel look like the same color as the rest of the face.
Shieldzone put 2 bottles of the spray in my package, in the reviews I read before they only gave one bottle, so I guess they realized that people needed more. I didn't use the spray though, I used contact lens solution because thats what I used when I applied screen protectors on my DS Lite and it doesn't seem to bubble.

Looks really invisible, haha.
Anyway, I have never used InvisibleShield before. Does it protect even the sides and corners of the iPod? If so, won't there be any creases at the corners where the film folds or something?

Is the piece that goes on the front of the iPod separate from the one that covers the metal back? I'd definitely like something like that to keep the back from scratching but I'd prefer to leave the aluminum front uncovered.

Are those easy to put on? I would hate to mess up and try over and over again...

Looks like you did a perfect job installing the shield on your Classic.
I bought one for my 5G but after applying the front section it was misaligned and full of bubbles. I tried to remove it and reposition like the instructions say but I pretty much trashed it and gave up. :(

For the back, there is one big piece that goes around the sides. For each of the four corners there are 4 seperate small pieces that cover the corners. The iLounge invisible shield review doesnt have anything covering the corners, this worried me at first but i'm glad they include these small pieces now.

Maybe wait for bestskinsever.com to sell protectors for the classic, they are supposed to be similar products and it's cheaper, since you just want the back. Otherwise it's $25 shipped for a full body shield, but it has a lifetime warranty so if the shield ever gets messed up you can have it replaced.

Are those easy to put on? I would hate to mess up and try over and over again...I did the back first and did it on my first try. For the front I had some air bubbles that had to be squeegee out, but I think it was because I used less liquid on the front because I didn't want to damage anything.

I mean after paying $270 after tax on this thing, i dont want air bubbles on it.
Sorry to hear about your previous experience. From reading message board posts about how other people applied thiers, it seems that more liquid will make everything easier since it allows you to move the skin around and position it properly. I took this advice but I was paranoid about breaking the ipod, thankfully nothing broke!

They used to have an installation video you can download from their website.

Loving my shield on the 6g! The only hard part were the little circles for the back corners - had to hold them in my hand for about 5 minutes to make them stick...after a couple of days the smaller bubbles are out and it looks great.
Installation was SOOO easy. Much easier than any screen protector I tried. It's all about the liquid. I wasn't hesistant about using LOTS of the spray (as long as the iPod is off and I KEEP it off for 24-48 hours after installation, any liquid that seeped inside should dry and not cause problems - it didn't).
By keeping everything moist (the skin, back and front and my fingers) I was able to reposition and align everything much easier. If there was dust or bubbles under any piece, I just peeled it up, sprayed everything again, and boom. Perfect.
I love this shield!

Few questions:
1. With the shield on, does it affect the screen at all? Color? Clarity? etc...
2. If, down the road, your shield becomes scratched and you want to put another on, if you peel the current shield off, does it leave any residue on the iPod?
3. During the installation, if you do not put it on straight the 1st time, is it a pain to peel off and start over?
Thank you!

No impact on screen. It is completely invisible.
There doesn't appear to be any residue (it doesn't use a "sticky" adhesive)
While installing, as long as you keep the skin wet, you can move it around and re-apply. I was scared of this (having to get it PERFECT the first time)...I spent a good 15 minutes re-aligning and re-attaching mine to make it EXACTLY perfect and it turned out great. You can touch both sides of the skin, as long as you keep it moist. Even after it starts drying, you can lift it, re-spray and re-apply (I had to do this on the back panel).

i am getting mine monday, it protected my 5g all its life and is still going strong.
already have 2 small marks on my classic :)
get the shield people... :) it protects and you stop worrying about scratching your ipod
# 13 Re: iPod Classic Invisible Shield. Pictures Inside.
I have a question about the invisible shield. I noticed that the screen on the classics is not completely flush with the rest of the face. When I put a screen protector on my classic the the protector had a small area around the whole screen that was not touching the screen but rather left a small gap where the face of the ipod was higher than than the screen. So my question is: Is this a problem for the invisible shield? Or is it just my ipod?

Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone else noticed less click wheel sensitivity with invisible shields?
My friend's iPod is hard to navigate because the wheel doesn't recognize the finger touch as easily.

My iPod is exactly the same way, and it makes it impossible to use screen protectors made for the 5G. Looking forward to the answer to this. It doesn't look like it was a problem for statik2426, tho.

Well I'm guessing the face shield is more than one piece. I bought a "front only" version for my 160, and it was simply for the screen itself, not the entire face, it doesn't protect the wheel or even the black/silver aluminum. If I were to buy the full body version, the screen and "face" would probably be two different pieces, seperate also from the center button and wheel.
I love the shield, but it seems to "trap" pieces of dust on it's face that I literally have to gouge out every now and then since they wont simply blow off..
