No classics last year

I wonder why the classics weren't released last year. They updated the nanos with aluminum so I wonder why they waited a year for the classic to go aluminum.

Hmm...wouldn't the new firmware have something to do with that? Apple had lots of software engineers writing software for the iPhone, the Touch, the Classic, iLife, iWork, and OSX. And remember iPhoto is a brand new program, that was completely rewritten.

Don't believe me, then just look at the interface, there are definitely changes in the firmare.

Well sure there is new firmware and hard drives in them. But I'm just curious why they didn't update the body of the iPod to aluminum when they did the nano. The reason they updated the nano was because people were complaining about scratches, but people were also complaining about scratches on the 5G. So why didn't they do anything about it back then?

The reason I figured we didn't see a new body to the iPod (classic) last year was because they didn't want to do something entirely new when they were just going to replace it 6 months later with a widescreen model. Or so that was my thinking. But now that we see it's virtually the same iPod but with aluminum and new firmware it makes me wonder why they didn't at least update the body last year.

I kind of secretly wonder if they changed plans at some point between last September and this September.

How readily available were 160gb hard drives last summer? What Apple is doing now is just giving me something that will get some money out of my wallet. I love my iPhone, but I am only able to get around 300 songs it, so I want a large capacity iPod, but I really believe that the iPod has been a dead product line for the last 6 months to a year, and that this will be the last one you see. I am even surprised that this is even here. But there is a need for a large capacity player for people like me who listen in lossless, and would consider buying a flash player with less than 32gb, and who really want 64gb.
