Need Help getting My iPod Classic 80GB to work with external speakers
Hi,
I've connected by iPod classic 80GB to external speakers.
The iPod connects fine.
It's just it says on the screen "accessory attached", but the screen stays stuck there and will not let me select songs.
I tried a few things and it unfroze once, but I cant get it back again.
Any suggestions?

Are you just connecting your stereo through your headphones jack?

Does this have a video out function. In which case you might be totally screwed. A firmware update might resolve the issue of letting you use the speakers on this gadget. But more than likely the video will never work.
As far as your Ipod I dunno. I take it when you press and hold the center button + menu button that doesn't reset it?

I actually have an iStation as I type this my 60Gig iPod Video is playing on it but since I have no iPod classic yet I do not know?
I know the iStation talks to the iPod if may not like the iPod Classic.

I believe his system has video out on the back. If so apple has locked out third party devices with the new classic models disabling the tv out function. Kinda crap if you ask me, his stereo part of it should work still.

For the most part, the speakers that we've tested do work with the iPod classic, regardless of whether they have a video-out function.
If you have speakers that handle both audio and video, but do not have the necessary Apple authentication chip, you will get audio playback, but no video (and the "TV Out" option will be locked to off).

right, so is this lockout only for video? i don't care about that much because i will use my PS3 from now to watch my music videos, all i'm concerned about is if i can still use my audio music on my stereo hifi and no one has answered that question yet :( i connect my current ipod to my stereo hifi via the headphone socket in my ipod video and i plug the end part into a video aux into the back of the hifi to listen to music, now the question that's i've been waiting for all morning is has this been completely disabled in the ipod classic? 0_o can i still listen to audio via video aux on my hifi stereo speakers?

I just got my 80 GB classic (silver) yesterday and YES audio via aux on my hifi stereo system works perfectly. :) No special cable or anything needed.
