TV Output Questions

Hi,

I'll be getting an iPod Classic soon an I've only just learnt about the TV Out options (didn't know you could do it with older iPods either!). I have a very nice HD TV that supports component output however I would probably want to use the tv out with the TV in my room which only supports the composite cables.

So my question is if I get a composite cable how much worse is the quality (keeping in mind I'm not exactly a videophile or anything)? Also, just to make sure, with either cord watching tv episodes and movies works very well using this method?

Thanks hugely for any help. :) :)

You'll need Apple's newer dock connector based video cables and dock-the older models will not work.

I don't have any old iPod (apart from a nano) or any old cords for TV output. I think you missed what I was asking but are you saying that I have to buy an Apple Dock as well as an ipod to tv cord!?

Well since the TV that u intend on hooking up ONLY has composite input, the point is moot isnt' it.

It won't be unwatchable if that's ur asking, and if less than 28" u probly wont notice the difference.

I think you should notice a big difference between a component and a composite cable on a HDTv. But unless you know that it could be better, you won't mind. Till now we only had composite on ipods (and S-video) and noone really complained about it.

Alright, thanks guys, good point Maticek, I'll just get a composite. :)

And bobb, not really since not being able to use the second tv wouldnt be a massive loss.

Oh, so you really meant bedroom TV hookup just nice to have but not critical.

If you STILL wanna hook it up to your HDTV, then I personally WOULD get the component cable for the HDTV... HDTV would expose every flaw from your signal path. However, being the cheapskate I am, $49 bux too steep... wait a little and buy a third party cable for alot less.
