using new classic/nano/touch with ipod hi-fi

heya.

does anyone know if the hi-fi-specific features (expanded artwork display & EQ settings) will work with the new ipod lineup? i know apple's still using the whole universal dock standard so fitting it won't be an issue, i just want to know if these interface things are still around because they're quite cool.

i'm assuming they're still in place ("Apple reps told us that the new iPods lose nothing from their predecessor models; they only gain. So something that worked on the last model should still work on the new one, only with cosmetic improvements"), it's just that discontinuing the hi-fi at the exact same time as introducing an entire new range of ipods makes me wonder. any help from anyone who has a hi-fi and one (or more...) of the new models would be much appreciated!

thanks
sam xx

i bought an 80gb ipod classic today. I've tried it out with my apple ipod hifi and can confirm that the above features you asked about don't work. It seems really stupid to leave something so simple out!!! grr! my friends 5.5G ipod still has the speakers option with full screen artwork, but the ipod classic doesn't have it! damn u apple, why get rid of it???!!

another sam b? what are the odds!

anyway, yeah, that's really dumb, and makes that statement i quoted sound like a bare-faced lie (albeit a pretty trivial one). not like it's going to stop me buying a classic, but still. silly apple. sort it out via firmware!

thanks for the answer, it's appreciated.

i like to think i'm the original sam b!!!
anyways, annoying as missing those minor features are, the ipod classic is kick-### and so is the ipod hifi!! and together they still make for a beautiful combination!!! :)
