Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. ok - basically, what i want to do is move all my songs from my ipod, back to my new windows xp (4-pin firewire) PC, rearrange all the songs (ie: fix up genres, albums etc), then put them back on.

my problems are,
a) that my pc doesnt recognise my ipod, in that it doesnt show up in my computer - my computer is in japanese (i am now living in japan) and i cannot figure out how to change the ipod to be able to be seen. the option doesnt even come up in ipod options in itunes to enable disk use - it is greyed, and fixed with a tick.

b)i've downloaded podutil, but it also doesnt recognise that the ipod is there

c) itunes recognises the ipod, but it says that it only has about 1gb left of space of a possible 2gb (when it is actually 18gb left of a possible 20gb). also, none of my music in my ipod shows up in itunes.

please, when giving instructions on what to do, please give them very clearly, simply and step-by-step, as my japanese reading skills arent quite at that level yet.
