Question about manually syncing playlists...

I have my Ipod set to be manually updated in Windows ITunes. Now in Itunes itself, I can sort any of the playlists by all of the different variables, but when I eject the Ipod all of the playlists keep the same order as when i initially put them in. This happens with both smart and regular playlists.

My question is, does a sort on Itunes change the order on the pod normally, and does it not do it for me because I am manually synching, or does it not change the order at all?

thanks

Hmmmm, I don't manually sync so I could be off-base here, but I think you'd need to resort the playlist on the iPod while it's connected to iTunes. Can you see the playlists that are on the iPod when you connect to iTunes? If so, click on the one you want to sort (to select it), then click on the field name you want to sort on.

Sorting the iTunes playlist won't change the sort order on the iPod version of that playlist since you're manually syncing.

Yes, I do see the Ipod playlists in itunes, and I can sort on any of the fields. It just doesn't transfer to the Pod.

Does the sort on the pod reflect on the sort on Itunes if you have everything synched automatically?

is there a way to make that happen in manual?

OK, from what I recall when I very briefly had my iPod set to manually sync was that I saw the playlists twice in iTunes...once indented below the iPod (these are the playlists that are on the iPod), and once below the iTunes Library (these are the playlists you have in iTunes). Are you sure you're sorting the right one?

Yes.

Andy,

I appreciate your replies. In Itunes, my playlists are only represented once, indented after the Ipod icon. Could that be my problem? I created the playlists only on the Ipod and since I do not automatically sync, they are not in my library?

Hmmmm, it sounds like you're sorting the right ones. I'm kind of out of ideas here. Hopefully someone else that actually manually syncs their iPod with iTunes will chime in here and give you the correct answer.
