asono Soundhub 20GB mp3 player! WOW!

I just read some local inet tech magazines, and I found an article about this new mp3 player from the scandinavian mp3 player

http://asono.com/en/product_info.php?products_id=311

This player looks neat, since it claims it has 16 hours battery life and the size of it is same as a credit card.. And 20 gigs too. It also have radio + dictaphone ..

Since my ipod is basically dead, im considering all other options too , thought i thought i was gonna buy myself another ipod. What you think ?

The price over here for it is same as for the 20g ipod.

hey it looks better then the rio...but thats not saying all that much...i have never heard of this company..is it a respectable one...they appear to make other usefull tech devices and mem ...

hmmm also itll scare many mac lovers away by its lack of support for acc files...at least i didnt see support for it...

but size capicity and price are realistic...look is average and dependability and the like is unknown!!!

anyone kow anyhting more?

How about we look past style hmm? Its the reason why the technologically inferior iPod sells so much compared to the new crops of MP3 players.

Now, to the actual topic..

The concerns that I would have would be:

>90dB S/N, not too bad, but there are some on the market that get near 100. Not a biggie.

10mW per channel is not loud at all, even the iPod has 30mW per channel (which isn't that much, its only about ~10%, if that, louder). Again, no biggie.

No WAV recording, not a good idea if you want high quality recordings. Even at 320kbps, the quality will probably fall short of, say, 192kbps LAME encoded.

12MB buffer can fit 2-3 songs, not too much, but not a huge deal.

16 hours is pretty much the standard these days with battery life, so it isn't really a huge advantage. It is getting closer and closer to the time where the only player sitting on <8 hours will be the iPod.

I'm not sure about the firmware, its either they're a small company that listens to customers, or a small company who just doesn't know about firmware. At least they're small enough to care, unlike say Apple or even iRiver.
