Getting a new back

Of course the first time my i pod isnt in its case, i hand it to my friend and it falls to the ground, landing on a small rock, and now i have a nice dent on the back of my ipod. its only about an inch in length and it hasnt messed anything up that i have noticed, but its still very noticable on the chromed finish. i was wondering how much a new back would cost, and who would i call at apple to set up the mail in and all that. or could i just take it to a store like best buy or frys or something like that, and could they do the service? its a 3G and i got it in dec of last year if that matters.

All that I know is that Apple does not cover any damage due to abuse. So you pretty much can't send them directly to Apple and they will send you another unit. The best you could do is enjoy the dented iPod ( sucks ) or try using cleaning products such as www.iCleaner.com ( it's a jaw dropper )haloeffekt at 2007-11-15 15:05:51 >

mine has a dent also and the scratch cleaner wont help that too much, but is there any way to buy a back from apple and put it on yourself?15GB 3G

do you know about a possibility of buying iPod spare parts directly, like you can at IBM? (at IBM, even the smallest screw has a stock number and you can order it)
to be honest, i don't really like Apple's "it works, you don't need to know, how"-attitude.
