need good portable speakers
I want a good portable speakers, and I know nothing about these. I was looking at the Creative Portable Speakers, but I need an opinion. Also, the only thing I ever had that came close to one is a Emachine Spekears that didnt need a power supply but didnt go loud enough.
I need the speakers to go louder than the ipod can. thanx

I'm thinking of getting one too, although I like the mini. Went on apple's site and looked through the different speaker packages they offer...wondering too which one is best.
I'd like something small, but sturdy. I'm tired of spending good money on something that breaks!

I have the inMotion speakers and I love them. I use them everyday beside my bed. I purchased them during the winter months so I have not tested them outside. But they sound great and they also charge the iPod when plugged in. They use 4 AA batteries and come with a wire to plug into the aux jack & the other end into the headphone jack of other portable devices so that they can be played through the speakers. They look fantastic & have a small piece that can be used with the smaller iPod so it will fit and a storage bag to keep everything in.

I have the Creative Portable speakers and I really enjoy them at work every day. They are very small to carry in your briefcase and they are almost reasonably priced.

Good luck, I'm still looking for that perfect set. Currently using Sony SRS T57 when travelling, sound somewhat OK. I pulled 2 different inmotions out of the box at the Apple store, hooked in my pod. Ugh. Distortion was horrible unless sound was really low. Would work for an alarm clock, but for a sound system while on the road, wasn't impressed at that price. Haven't played with the Creatives yet. Looknig for something that A) can run on batteries B) can run on AC power too C) has volume control so I can use the line out of the dock.

Have you though about the Altec Lansing inMotion speaker system. The only bad thing about them is you cannot seperate the left and right speakers as they are built in to the unit. But since my 15 GB iPod did not come with a dock, this little speaker unit has a built-in dock that I can use to recharge the batteries while I am playing music at my desk.
