boombox help please

I'd like to output my Ipod to a boombox via the connection kit. Can anybody please

a. Tell me whether the boombox must be able to play mp3 files or will just any bit of kit with an input do?
b. Any recs for a suitable good quality (if that's not a contradiction interms) boombox.

TIA. John.

a) you need to make sure that they it has an AUX in line
b) sony boomboxes are solid, but then again, most boomboxs dont have AUX in

most stereo's nowadays come with an aux in so all you need is a cable that goes from 1/8 inch phono (headphone) to rca red and white. Sony, Aiwa, Toshiba, any of those are fine in my opinion. go to an electronics shop and take a listen and see what you like best. The iPod does the mp3 playing so you don't need to worry about that. Just the AUX in is all. Also try to use the line out on the dock (if you have a 3rd gen) rather than the headphone jack. You will like the sound much better.

I meant boom boxes, sorry. and yes most have an AUX in now. With lots of people switching to mp3 players these companies don't wanna get left out in the cold.

Thanks for the answers/tips - I'll try the big manufacturers. I guess they all must have one boombox in their line-ups that has an AUX connection.
