"Destination Invalid" help!
Hello all,
I have EphPod 2.76 and am trying to backup all my songs on to my PC. I went to copy them and i have a 'destination invalid' message appear. I don't know what to do now. This is really annoying as i've been using ephpod since the very early days with no problems.
I installed itunes and think this may have something to do with it... as it came up with a message before saying 'itunes lock something or another'....i compleatly uninstalled itunes after.
My best guess is to delete something in the ipod control folder. Anyone had this problem?
Thanks for any help!
MusicL.
(other info: I'm using a G2 20gb pod. Unistalled EphPod, it worked before for a while, but message came up again, using XP...bloody itunes fault...)

The only time I've come across this "Destination Invalid" is when you first use Ephpod to transfer music onto your iPod.
The cure for this is to delete the 'iPod_Control' folder on your iPod. But! this of course will mean you loose all your music!
Ephpod will then build the folders as required and that message will disappear.
I've not come across this problem after you have already transfered music across. iTunes must've done something weird and wonderfull.

Anubis,
Thanx for the reply, i've been checking every day till i recive my new ipod though the post.
Ive been using ephod from dot, and it's been fine. I've deleted everything to do with itunes, and ephod still runs ok...
i've used ephods feature to search all the lost songs and tag them, (taken ages, so joe could you please make this AUTOMATICALY tag everything instead of sitting there for over an hour like me tagging everything and pressing the space bar!)
But yes, Anubis:
Sometimes it starts buidling a few folders, but still gives me the error message. Im trying to get music OFF the ipod onto the PC.
(so i can put it all organised ontop my new ipod)
If the designer (joe ) of ephod is reading, can you help?
Thanks
"[1/16/2004] EphPod development has slowed down a bit lately, but you can expect new versions every 3-4 weeks "
It's still a great program, but am a little frustrated! :)

You can get rid of that pop-up by just enabling "get file info from song name" option in config (read that screen; it tells you this!)
# 4 Re: "Destination Invalid" help!
Thank you joe for the reply,
>get file info from song name
I'm sure i have a simliar option checked in that screen...i couldn't see the "get file info from song name" option specifically.
Here are two print screen of all my options. I still cant' copy from my ipod to the computer without that message.
Any more clues joe? Thanx again, it is a great program!

Those links give me file-not-found errors.
You want to set up your configuration so that EphPod takes the song information from filenames. You can set up (I believe it's in Advanced Configuration) exactly how your files are set up so that it pulls the information correctly.

Yeah, you have "Use Directory Structure" checked, and that's the one. Are these mp4s or mp3s or?
# 9 Re: "Destination Invalid" help!
Hey joe, "where you goin' with that gun of your hand" ;D
Most of my pod is mp3 (192bit rate) from my CD collection...i don't think there are any mp4s, - would this make a difference?
I unchecked the "Use Directory Structure", went to copy to my HD but it still gave me the "invalid" error message :(
It creates a directory, but then dosn't copy any songs. I have to cntrl alt delete to get out of ephod as the message keeps appearing and you cant get out of it.

Ephod didn't work, didn't get it to work for three weeks now looking at my first post date.
Found this which did work:

Just thought i'd post if anyone is searching though the forum for an answer with the same problem.
