WIN 98SE, ipod not regonised!
i have my ipod (3g 15gb) set up and it all works on my main com which runs XP,
now i also want to be able to use it as a harddirve to transfer files onto my older comp, which is win 98 SE,
i have managed to install the updater, but my comp won't reconise my ipod when i plug it in,
can anyone help?

I had to download the latest FW drivers from MS, then the latest FirmWare from Apple, then my EphPod recognized the pod. Works great! Just didn't know whether it was gonna work at all for a day er two.

Are you trying to use USB or Firewire? Mine was working fine with USB on Windows XP, but I had to buy a Firewire card to get the iPod recognized on 98SE.

I bought a Fire Wire ( 1394 ) card for my W98se confuser because the folks at the Apple dealer claimed it would be the fastest setup. It appears they knew of what they spoke. It took a few days, but hasn't had a hiccup since! I can't swear to it, but I believe that was a problem with USB2 and 98se. Also, I wanted my pod to charge when docked.
