I've had to reinstall windows and most programs including iTunes because of some problem with the system files.

Before I start the newly installed iTunes with my iPod plugged in, I'd like to know if it'll start syncing (thus wiping all my files) automatically as soon as I start iTunes, or will it pop up a message asking if I want to auto-sync or do it manually?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I would assume it will give you a chance to turn off auto sync before doing it, but I too scared of losing my 18GB of music to want to risk it.
