iTunes Keeps Quitting! Help!
Today, out of the blue, iTunes (4.2, Windows XP) quits with a "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. " every time I try to play a song, whether or not the iPod is connected (i.e. whether I'm playing a song from the iPod or from my Library on the harddrive).
Can anyone suggest a solution? I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and I think I've deleted preferences, all to no avail.
I've also recently used Red Chair's Anapod explorer (which crapped up my iPod, and I had to rebuild the iTunesDB file) ; however I had removed/uninstalled that software at least 3 days ago.
Guys, I'm pretty stumped here! I can't seem to add any more songs to my iPod; when I do, it shows a "!" mark next to the song title on my pod.
Help! Thanks!

1. turn off system restore:
Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.
2. uninstall both itunes and the other software
3. reboot computer
4. confirm that both programs are gone
5. turn system restore back on
6. set a save point for right now
7. reboot computer, reinstall itunes
this should work, unless i'm wrong <heh>

Thank you very much for the rapid reply, mdobilas . I'm going to try your suggestion, and then post my results here. Do you think that my various iPod management programs (Anapod, X_Play, ITunes) have conflicted with each other?
I'm actually really ticked with Anapod. I paid the $$ (25 I think) and it hasn't done anything except corrupt my iTunesDB file a few times.
I'll get back to this post ASAP. Thanks again for your help.

:D I figured it out!!! :D
The macro program by Iolo (Macro Magic) was causing iTunes to crash upon attempting to play any music file.
Whew! Thanks for your help, people.

UPDATE: I've found a macro program that works with iTunes: it's Macro Express by Wintools (http://www.wintools.com). The thing I like about it is that it's easy to set up a macro (assigned to F9, for instance) for hitting the Next button on the Info screen: I use this to make editing ID3 tags much faster!
Name: NextButton
<SPEED:00.25><MMW2:129,410><LDN><LUP>
Hope this is helpful to someone. I may cross-post this with the guy who's having problems with iTunes quitting on him; I'll suggest that it may be a software conflict.
