Album track order screw up
I have been using OS 9 on my ibook for a while - but last week moved over to OS X on the same computer. I opened up itunes in OS X and imported all my music from my OS 9 itunes folder.
First, none of my playlists copied over. So I remade them (took forever). Then I noticed that every album in OS X had the tracks in alphabetical order! (Even though I used CDDB to get all the data for the albums).
My question: is there any easy way I can get my album track listings back in the order they appear on the album?

How are you sorting your songs in iTunes? Be sure you have Album clicked in the tag bar at the top. As long as you have the proper track number information in your song tags, it should display them in the proper order. Sorting by Song name overides track number and puts everything in alphabetical order.
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for replying, dcmacnut.
I will check for sure when I go home tonight, but this is how I remember it:
I have a left and a right tag bar. On the left is a list of all the artists in my itunes, in alphabetical order, which I can scroll through. Right at the top of this list, it says "All" - when I click on that, the album names appear in the right tag bar (which makes me think I've got it set on albums correctly...?). I can then scroll down the list of albums, but when I click on an individual album, the tracks are displayed in alphabetical order. This is the only thing that is different to how things were in ol' OS 9.
I hope the problem is as simple as you suggest and isn't just me being very stupid!

I think your talking about the browse windows at the very top of iTunes. Down where the tracks are listed, there is another header above the columns that lists Song Name, Artist, Album, etc. Be sure to have the Album column selected, and all should be well.

Hey! It was just as you said! It seems obvious now, but actually it's not quite as obvious as all that, and I definitely wouldn't have fixed it without your help, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
