I really need help - iPod cant mount.
Ok, so I seem to be having the same problem as a lot of other people on these forums and I've tried almost everything I can think of. My iPod was working fine up until a few days ago when it suddenly stopped appearing in the iTunes source list. However, it still appears in the My Computer folder. So I searched around for other people with the same problems and found some supposed solutions. I've reset my iPod about 7 times already, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all of the software 3 times, I went to a friend who I know that repairs computers and knows about iPods and he checked the cable for me and said it was fine. Since none of these helped, I went to restore my iPod but the updater pops up a window that says my iPod can't mount and the updater closes once I click ok. I really have no clue what to do and I'm hoping restoring is a last resort because I don't have of my music on my hard drive anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: If your music is not on your HD anymore the restore will erase all of the music off of your iPod. You should have backed up your library.
I got my updater to mount my iPod when it keep saying 'can't mount ipod' by sitting there at the computer and I reset the iPod (menu + play/pause) and unplugged and plugged the firewire into the computer and the dock and then put the ipod into the dock, then open the updater. I kept doing this several times until the updater mounted the iPod. Eventually it did and then I restored it.
First let the iPod battery completely drain if you haven't already done this and see if this will work for you. It won't hurt to try it.

I know that already and I know I should've backed up but I couldn't because of reasons beyond my control.
But anyway, I tried both of those and neither worked. Thank you for your help anyway.

jsyteng@hotmail.com No I haven't. My iPod has not been working for over a month now and I've tried everything I've been told to and tried other things I could think of. I've had people look at it too and still it doesn't work. I'm really starting to get frustrated with it because the iPod is practically new and it's a complete waste of money if it's just going to stop working for no logical reason.

I think it's the OS 10.3.4 updated that's screwing everyone...I just did it yesterday and now my ipod won't mount...it mounts just fine on all my other machines
