does A/C power Ipod or only charge it?
Hello. Does the Ipod ALWAYS use the battery? Is the battery powering the ipod once it is in it's full state while the AC Adapter merely keeps it charged up to full... OR... once the battery is full, does the Ac adapter take over and power the unit without taking power from the battery?
I am asking this because I would be using an ipod at work for probably 6-10 hours a day and if I could have it plugged in without sapping battery power, this would help make sure my ipod wouldnt die after only a couple years. If this is not the case, please let me know.

I think if you have it plugged in it uses the A/C not the battery. Otherwise an iPod with a dead battery wouldn't come on when you plugged it in, you'd have to wait for the battery to charge a bit. Or so I would think...:confused:

I hope it uses A/C because I plug iPod into AC and stereo, and would rather not waste my precious battery life cycles on the iPod WHILE normal power and computer is available!

same apply with a car charger? is the ipod working off the car charger rather then the battery, or is it working off the battery and charging at the same time?

When connected to the AC charger it powers the iPod and charges it. If you use it while it's charging, it will take a bit longer to achive a full charge.

Sometimes when I have my ipod playing while fully charged and plugged in to ac it will suddenly after about an hour charge again which makes me believe it uses the battery.

I don't think anyone can be sure... Apple don't tell anyone anything and it's hard for people to find out info like this...
