Main Harddrive crashed on windows computer.

Recently my main harddrive crashed and I lost all my data on it. Luckly all my mp3 files were on my second harddrive. However, I lost my Itunes folder and therefore all my Itunes playlist info. I am afraid to connect my Ipod to my computer though, because I have about 800 song ratings that I really don't want to lose. I am afraid that the ipod wont recognize my music as the same mp3 files and just delete everything on my ipod.

Does anyone know what will happen if I try to connect my ipod to my computer? If something bad is going to happen, does anyone know if there is a way around it? I have all my mp3's exactly where they used to be on my computer, cept I lost my entire Itunes folder.

Thanks for any help!

When you re-install iTunes on the new disk, make sure you have Auto Synch turned off. Now you can hook up the iPod safely. To re-import the music and re-build the iTunes Music Library, you just need select FILE > ADD TO LIBRARY and point it to the files you want to add. This will re-build your Library and the song will now appear in iTunes. Don't think the re-imported songs will have your ratings etc on them, but the iPod should still reflect them for its songs.

Thanks. I have my itunes library all setup as it was before. The thing I am worried about is losing all my ratings when I try to sync my ipod with the library. I'm afraid it will delete all my ratings.
