manually controlling tunes?

If you choose the manual control tunes option on the ipod options, does anyone know how you transfer songs into the music library from elsewhere in your computer? It seems "add folder to Library" only works for when it is automatic. Thanks, .

That should work. What format are these tracks in? If the 'add folder' really doesn't work I think there's a setting in 'preferences' that will let you add tracks to the library simply by playing them. Yes go to FILE > ADD TO LIBRARY and brows until you find the songs you are looking for. The songs will be added to the library and appear in iTunes but remain in place on the HDD. This is how I do all the time in order to keep track of my music.
