File Conversion Programs

Does anyone know of any reliable programs that can convert a wide variety of different types of file types.
Thanks.

I assume you mean audio files. Are you using a Mac or a PC? Give us some more details about your setup and what you are trying to do and perhaps we can give you an answer.

I am using a pc and was just wanting to back up my files off my ipod. The problem is they have come back on a different format, MP4 or something along those lines. I just wanted to convert these back to something that can be read by iTunes.

Thanks.

sorry for the lack of details.

IIRC m4p is another name for the aac format, isn't it? I think iTunes will recognize those...

There is an MP4/AAC codec for dBpowerAMP. You can download at the codec=central page (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm).

However, if the files in question are M4P files, those are AAC/MP4 files that are downloaded from the iTunes Music Store. They have DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection in them and you will not be able to convert them with dBpowerAMP.

Amadeus II **WILL** convert aac/mp4 to mp3 and others. But I think it's MAC OSX only. (God I love saying that sometimes...)

I've actually put songs on my blog that I bought on the ITMS just to make sure it worked, and it did.
