My computer freezes

I have had this problem ever since I got my ipod. It has gotten progressively worse. Now my computer freezes after just one or two songs. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?
I apologize if I should have posted this questions elsewhere.

Is the iPod plugged in? Are the songs playing on the iPod or on iTunes?

The Ipod is plugged in (says "do not disconnect"). I use ITunes and am trying to transfer songs from my Library to my Ipod.

Sounds to me like:

a-A firewire card problem
b-A driver issue for iTunes
c-A bad FW cable

or it could be something completely different. Those are where I would START looking...

Running a G4, 1.25, 2 GB Ram and Panther
Pod worked fine for a long time.
The strange behavior:
The iPod when plugged in would begin to update.
one or two songs would show as copying, and then the pod freezes, then iTunes freezes.
After a long time, the whole system freezes. If I unplug the Pod, the system MAY come back.
I tried moving the Pod to my Windoze machine, and pretty much had the same results.
This seems to tule out the firewire system on my Mac.
Then, the logic board failed on the Pod. I sent it to MacResq, and they fixed it.
They reported that they could synch.
I deleted my iTunes library, and assed my songs back in, and did not convert them to AAC. I got about 2 gigs loaded and the behavior started again.
That is all I cna report for now.
Any ideas?

If you think it is the iPod at fault and it is still under warranty, contact Apple and send it back. They won't fix, they will just send you a replacement instead.

If you have the opportunity, try another iPod on you system and see what happens. This way you should be able to pin it down to the your iPod. Of coarse you may just screw up another iPod...
