Connecting an iPod to a USB 1.1 port with a USB 2.0 connector
Hi,
Has anyone tried connecting your iPod to a USB 1.1 port using the USB 2.0 connector?
I've read in several places that this should work on most equipment; but does it work with the iPod? Has anyone actually tried?

Yes, it will work. A search of the forums will give you some more information on the subject.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the search feature will not work with words with less than for letters in them, such as USB, 1.1, etc :(

Try using * on either side of the term, i.e. *usb* while searching.

It works fine, its just a bit slower then 2.0.
Its hardly unbearable though.

might as well get yoruself a firewire. it's not that expensive, and it saves all the hassle of waiting forever for your beloved music!

Yes, it will work. USB 2.0 products work with USB 1.1 ports. That is part of the USB 2.0 spec. They will just operate at USB 1.1 speeds.

One annoying thing tho.. in Windows you will get a pop up yellow window, next to the clock, telling you that a hi speed devide has been connected to a low speed bus.
Does anyone know how to DISABLE this stupid thing? I think that showing it once off, its more than enough////

It doesn't happen on mine, but I don't know why it doesn't. I know I did a lot of tweaking long ago to disable useless things like that popping up...
