Best way to transfer 000s songs from iPod to iTunes

I would like to know the best way to transfer hundreds of sons from my iPod to iTunes. I have read the FAQ, tried it and realised that it was very time consuming and complicated. I have heard of Eupod but I was wandering whether you can delete after they have transfered and how does it work?

- enable disk mode on the ipod- copy the folder with your music to your computer
- import folder in itunes
