Mini skips through tracks - help needed

Hi everyone - my first post

Just got my mini yesterday - my first iPod - and still learning the ropes.

I have uploaded about 20 albums to iTunes and synced with the iPod.

When I select some of the albums to play on the iPod from the menu, rather than starting to play Track 1, it quickly skips through all the tracks without playing them and then returns to the menu.

The only way to hear the music from those albums is to press pause whilst it is skipping thru the tracks, return to Track 1 using the Rewind button and then release the pause.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

A may be able to offer a clue - all the albums that were affected were ones which I had coverted to mp3 using RealPlayer (because it converts at much greater speed) and then added to my iTunes library, using File, Add Folder to Library. The folders were not however in my iTunes sub-directory on my laptop. Does this make a difference?

I would be grateful for any suggestions as to why this is happening and how I can prevent it.

Thanks

Hi this is my first post too. Hi people!

OK i had the same problem with tracking skipping through on one of my play lists. I fixed the problem by deleting the playlist. Synching the iPod. Then re-creating the play list and re-synching. It worked fine after that.

Good luck

i have the same issue but no solution (have only had it for 24 hrs). It's not just playlists - it happens when I select an artist/album too. Very annoying.

Hi

Thanks for comments and suggestions

I have done two things;

Firstly I have moved all the affected folders to the iTunes / iTunes Music sub-directory.

Secondly I followed Faide's advice and deleted the tracks from my iTunes library, synced the iPod, added them back to the library and synced again. Now it seems to be okay.

Not very scientific, but it seems to have done the trick.

I would still be pleased to hear other people's comments and suggestions as to why this might have happened

I still get continuous skipping (until I press the pause/play button) when browsing artists>albums>songs. I don't get it when i play my main playlist (the one holding all the library), nor do i get it when i play my OTG playlist. I've not made any other playlists.

Playing around with it this morning I'm thinking it might be a quirk with the shuffle command. I don't have any strong evidence yet, but I wonder if having shuffle "on" while synching messes things up a bit... this really annoys me and i'm determined to get to the bottom of it.

I had same thing , with songs skipping, I have all mp3 files and it was the tags causing this. It is something to do with the mp3 tags I think. I edited them again and it fixed it. The iPod only like Genres, Artist, Album, Title, try this. I had YEAR filled it and this caused the problems skipping. DO NOT USE ITUNES to edit your tags.
Hope this Helps

Hmmm. The songs I am having a problem with were all ripped by Media Player. So I'm sure it added tags. I'll change em in Musicmatch (which has never given me a problem before). :)

Hopefully that'll do th trick.
