My Ipod wont work!

My ipod has been fine till yesterday. When I turn it on, the apple logo appears following with a folder logo with an exclamation point! Why! What does this mean! I have reset it, only for it to do the same, now I cant turn it off as the apple logo then the folder just keep appearing! The back of the ipod is getting really warm now and I cant turn it off or even use it! How do I get everything back to normal?

why does this happen tho coz i was walking and everything was fine, then this happened. am downloading an updater and willl try to restore my ipodcrossboro at 2007-11-15 14:09:04 >

i downloaded the updater to find the response, cant mount ipod. I connect my firewire cable into the ipod and this happened, how can i fix this!!crossboro at 2007-11-15 14:10:03 >
